A Message from Alan Hays

Lake County's Supervisor of Elections

Dear Lake County Voters,

First, let me pass to you my most humble appreciation for your overwhelming voice of support for my team and me through your voting on Tuesday.  I am honored that you gave us a glowing stamp of approval for the manner in which we have administered your elections for these last 8 years.

Sadly though, I am dismayed and frankly insulted by the despicable behavior of a group of people who have taken it upon themselves to intrude into the homes and lives of several Lake County voters and sowed seeds of doubt and casting aspersions upon my office.

Specifically, I am speaking about a group of people who are going through neighborhoods asking people if they voted for Tom Vail. These individuals are either implying or stating there was something done wrong in the tabulation of this election.  NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!!!

The misinformation and attacks on the integrity of this office and the 2024 Primary Election is rampant on social media as well.

Let me assure you that your 2024 Primary Election was administered with professionalism and with the utmost accuracy as seen by the certification of Official Results today by the Canvassing Board.

Please take this notice seriously and if someone approaches you asking how you voted, walk away. I am fed up with the behavior by this group of individuals and yes, I am embarrassed that some of them are officers of the Republican Executive Committee. It is, in my opinion, totally inappropriate and an indication of poor leadership.

Please feel welcome to contact my office with questions that you may have regarding the administration of elections. Better yet, schedule a facility tour and experience for yourself the facts rather than unfounded rhetoric.

Thank you again for your vote of trust in my team and for the privilege of serving as your Supervisor of Elections. May you have a nice weekend and be unencumbered by false information.

New precincts are added when area population growth warrants, and our goal is to always strive to meet the needs of Lake County voters,” Hays further elaborated.
In addition to polling places changes effective for Election Day, there have been some updates to Early Voting sites. Early Voting runs from August 6th-15th. Sites are open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Early Voting returned to the Mt. Dora W.T. Bland Public Library, 1995 N. Donnelly Street, Mt. Dora and is no longer held at Lake Receptions. A new Early Voting site was added at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, 3700 S. US HWY 27 in Clermont.
