The Status of Elections in Lake County, Florida
As part of our commitment to provide voters with accurate election information, as well as our ongoing voter education efforts to earn the confidence of our voters, we offer this report.
Your elections office is diligently engaged in preparing for the August 23, 2022 Primary Election and the November 8, 2022 General Election. We have almost completed the task of redistricting and soon we will be mailing to each Lake County voter a new voter information card.
It has recently come to my attention that there are individuals and groups that continue to spread lies about the conduct of the 2020 election here in Lake County. We have met personally with several of these individuals and with groups of them. We have presented the facts, but they refuse to believe the facts. Their minds are made up! There are also statewide groups engaged in this practice. It is unfortunate they refuse to believe the facts.
We have found it to be quite true that it is much easier to fool someone than it is to convince someone they have been fooled.
In spite of the continuing spreading of lies and innuendo by these individuals and groups of misinformed people here locally, not one piece of credible evidence of any wrongdoing by this office has been presented to this office.
As of this date, there have been 6 people referred to the State Attorney for possible prosecution due to having voted, even though they were convicted felons. One person was tried for having presented over 500 falsified voter registration applications. One person voted in Idaho after voting here and they are being dealt with by Idaho authorities, and one person voted by mail here in Lake County, then voted in person in Duval County. Duval County is following up on that misconduct.
We seriously regret that many voters continue to be distracted by the false information being spread, and it would be nice if those spreading the falsehoods and innuendo would stop such activity. Unfortunately, they continue to spread the nonsense. Therefore, we are presenting this status report so you, the citizens of Lake County, have the truth coming directly from the Office of the Lake County Supervisor of Elections.
The Florida Secretary of State, Mrs. Laurel Lee, has collaborated with Mr. Wesley Wilcox, President of the Florida Association of Supervisors to create an informative video that may be viewed on our home page, www.lakevotes.gov.
