A Message from Alan Hays

Lake County's Supervisor of Elections

Tuesday, September 19 is National Voter Registration Day. This non-partisan civic holiday is a day of coordinated events to encourage Americans to get vote ready by registering to vote. Thousands of volunteers and organizations are working together to get communities ready to be at the polls for their next election.

No matter what party you support or what issues matter the most to you, this is a great opportunity to take that first step in exercising one of our most important civil rights as an American citizen--the right to vote. I want to encourage you to become civically engaged because your vote does matter.

If you are already a voter, take time to inspire others to register to vote by sharing why it's important to you. Help raise up the next generation of voters, your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, and even the neighborhood kid through role modeling and conversation. You won't regret sharing your election experiences.

Registering to vote has never been easier! Stop by our office at 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, register online at LakeVotes.gov/Register to vote, or attend a scheduled community outreach event.

Once you are registered to vote consider becoming an election worker. Learn more by selecting the Becoming an Election Worker tab at LakeVotes.gov.

I look forward to seeing you at one of our outreach events or at the polls at an upcoming election.

Thank you for the privilege of serving as your Supervisor of Elections.

Lake County Supervisor of Elections Celebrates National Voter Registration Day With Area Registration Drives

Tavares, FL - Lake County Supervisor of Elections, Alan Hays, would like to remind voters of the October 5th voter registration deadline for the upcoming General Election. Voters will need to register by that date in order to vote in the General Election on November 3rd.
“Voters have several options when registering to vote,” Hays commented. “Online registration is available on our website at www.LakeVotes.com. Voters may register in person at our office located at 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., in Tavares. Voter registration application forms are also available at area libraries and at the DMV when obtaining/renewing your Florida driver’s license. If you would like us to mail you an application, give our office a call at 352.343.9734,” Hays further elaborated. We are also available for your clubs, organizations, and meetings. If you have an event and would like us to host a registration drive, email us at VoterOutreach@LakeVotes.com, and we will do our best to accommodate your request,” Hays shared.
September 22nd is National Voter Registration Day, but the elections office is celebrating the entire month and days leading up to the October 5th deadline. “We plan to be at area high schools, technical schools, area churches, and wherever we are asked to go to help folks get registered. Since many events are cancelled this year, we are happy to bring the registration office to you. This year we have created a video to assist students who have chosen the online option to attend school and would like to register to vote,” Hays stated. Normally, high school registration drives are held at area high school auditoriums and media centers, but the elections office had to become a little more creative with their High School Registration Challenge. As part of the challenge, the school with the highest percentage of registrations wins a trophy and bragging rights on social media. It’s a fun way to get students involved in the elections process.
Voters who aren’t sure of their registration status can check it, as well as make changes to their voter record on the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website: https://www.lakevotes.com/Voting/Voter-Information. Voters can also call or visit their office at 352.343.9734. The office is located at 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778 and their mailing address is P.O. Box 457, Tavares, FL 32778.
“One of the easiest ways to avoid delays at the polls is to keep your voter record current,” stated Hays. “Our office is here to serve you, and we look forward to seeing you at our next registration drive,” Hays added.
