Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office to Reopen

Public Access Resumes May 20, 2020

Tavares, FL – As part of the reopening Lake County plan, the Lake County Supervisor of Elections office will reopen tomorrow, May 20th.

“We will follow the CDC and DOH guidelines when reopening our offices to the public,” stated Lake County Supervisor of Elections, Alan Hays. “The safety of voters and staff will remain paramount as we prepare for the reopening,” Hays further commented. We have installed plexiglass barriers at our front registration office to protect our visitors and our team members. We will be practicing the appropriate social distancing requirements in our lobby area. We ask for your patience as we navigate these new protocols. We will resume our normal business hours Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to our office reopening, services will continue to be available via telephone at 352.343.9734 and online at Voters may call to update their address, request a vote-by-mail ballot, inquire about upcoming election dates, early voting and election day polling place locations, and request a voter registration form be mailed to them. Voters may also use our online services to register to vote, update their voter record, including party affiliation changes, check their registration status, request a vote-by-mail ballot, obtain information regarding upcoming election dates, deadlines, and other voter services needs. Signature updates must be made via hard-copy form. To update a signature, voters will need to fill in the registration application completely, sign, date and return it to our office. The voter’s signature on file is used to verify petitions, provisional ballots, and vote-by-mail ballots. Keeping voter records up to date will help elections run smoothly whether voters choose to vote in person or via mail. We appreciate your diligence during these challenging times.

“Our goal is to offer voters many options in which to register and/or keep their record up to date,” Hays shared. If voters prefer to drop off their information without stopping in our office, there is a curbside drop box usually reserved for vote-by-mail ballots, where they can deposit their information without leaving their car. Please continue to be safe as we move into this next phase of reopening. We look forward to continuing to serve you.
