A Message from Alan Hays

Lake County's Supervisor of Elections

Dear Lake County Voters,

First, let me pass to you my most humble appreciation for your overwhelming voice of support for my team and me through your voting on Tuesday.  I am honored that you gave us a glowing stamp of approval for the manner in which we have administered your elections for these last 8 years.

Sadly though, I am dismayed and frankly insulted by the despicable behavior of a group of people who have taken it upon themselves to intrude into the homes and lives of several Lake County voters and sowed seeds of doubt and casting aspersions upon my office.

Specifically, I am speaking about a group of people who are going through neighborhoods asking people if they voted for Tom Vail. These individuals are either implying or stating there was something done wrong in the tabulation of this election.  NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!!!

The misinformation and attacks on the integrity of this office and the 2024 Primary Election is rampant on social media as well.

Let me assure you that your 2024 Primary Election was administered with professionalism and with the utmost accuracy as seen by the certification of Official Results today by the Canvassing Board.

Please take this notice seriously and if someone approaches you asking how you voted, walk away. I am fed up with the behavior by this group of individuals and yes, I am embarrassed that some of them are officers of the Republican Executive Committee. It is, in my opinion, totally inappropriate and an indication of poor leadership.

Please feel welcome to contact my office with questions that you may have regarding the administration of elections. Better yet, schedule a facility tour and experience for yourself the facts rather than unfounded rhetoric.

Thank you again for your vote of trust in my team and for the privilege of serving as your Supervisor of Elections. May you have a nice weekend and be unencumbered by false information.

Florida Supervisors of Elections and Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee Join NASS in #TrustedInfo2022 Voter Education Effort

In preparation of the 2022 midterm elections, Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) and Florida Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee join the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) in the #TrustedInfo2022 education effort to promote state and local election officials as the trusted sources for election information.

“The biggest threat to our democracy is election misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation (MDM) that undermines voter confidence in the integrity of our elections,” states Wesley Wilcox, Marion County Supervisor of Elections and Florida Supervisors of Elections President. “Florida voters can be confident that our elections are accurate and conducted with the highest levels of integrity and transparency in our nation. We are committed to ensuring voters have access to accurate election information during the 2022 election cycle and beyond.”

The spread of misinformation and disinformation to influence voters and interfere with elections is a key concern,” said Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee. “We are grateful to be partnering with NASS and the Florida Supervisors of Elections for the #TrustedInfo2022 campaign to ensure that voters in Florida know that we are THE trusted sources for elections information.”

Together, their goal is to ensure the integrity of Florida’s elections and to support fair, honest, and accurate elections in the State of Florida. As elections professionals, they want to highlight their committment to being the official trusted sources of election-related information in Florida. While there is a lot of information about voting and elections on the internet and social media, not all of it is credible. Your local Supervisor of Election’s offices and the Florida Department of State will remain the credible, verified source for election information. Many election officials will  use the #TrustedInfo2022 to flag official election information on social media and other sites.

To learn more about NASS’s #TrustedInfo2022 campaign, visit CanIVote.org and for trusted information about state and local elections, visit the official websites and social media accounts for your local Supervisor of Elections, and the Department of State’s website at DOS.Myflorida.com/elections.
